Restarting soon!

Dear fellas, here I am.

A long time passed since our last meeting! In the meantime I spent some time travelling. I ended up in Italy where I created a “language exchange” group through meetup.

It was nice! In only 2 weeks it started growing with people from different nationalities and continents. But then Codiv-19 came, and we had to stop.

Now that we are allowed to breath again freely, I will restart, but with a slightly different approach, and a newer purpose.

In October my boss, Arthur Searle, died. You have no idea how much I loved him! He was an authentic and unique friend. But life ends for everyone, and I am glad I could share my time with him.

After his death I had to figure out how to make my income. I’ve been a part-time web hosting manager since 2010, but I never offered a brand, so here it is:

It is not just a regular web hosting (I can’t resiste to mess up regular things!!!), it’s a bit more, and here I am trying to mix my 2 beloved social creatures: the web management and the village gathering.

I can’t say more for now! There’s so much to do, but the seeds have been thrown 😉

I’ll be back asap with new gatherings!

About 14 October ’18 gathering

Hi all!
Just quickly thanking for yesterday.
Honestly, I was not expecting anyone to come for a walk under the rain! But in the end we were 4! And I personally enjoyed our little simple walk very very much.

At one point I felt as we were a little flock with no direction and its own beauty. I don’t know if the participants noticed it, but we changed speed once in while: slow in green areas and faster in trafficked Holloway road.

While chatting with Habiba (thank you!!), I also had the chance to realise a bit more what this is about.
The idea came one morning, very early in the morning after a very funny party in Utrecht (NL), while I was listening to a black bird and wondering what the hell was it saying.
I then found someone who not only gave the answer, but also suggested to immerge yourself into that listening in order to create a connection with the environment.
Birds, indeed, use sound and vision as primary sensory indicators, as well as humans, and they are even listened by other animals, like squirrels, in order to know what’s going on, like a cat approaching.

So they are like a bridge, a sort of story tellers.

The same guy who explained bird language, is now part of a team that work on “cultural repair”, and the village is the place where this can happen.
Connection is the base of well-being: being connected to the others, to ourselves, to the environment is the key to a fun and peaceful life, where our unique expressions are listened, enjoyed and shared.

How? Like anything in life: through practice.
The village is the practice of connection.

Tataaaa!!! End of the post 🙂

Second Village Gathering… :D !

Hi Villagers.
Ehem… let’s gather again !!

As I wrote in the “3rd first village gathering”, the first time we gathered ended up being something chaotic and interesting, with lot of potentials. I could tell you that up to scientific research, gathering is the best way to keep yourself happy and healthy, but you simply have to come and see how you feel after that! And if you know any scientist, invite them for a live experiment 😉

Sabine suggested to gather for a walk, something not too demanding.
A walk at a slow pace would be a great container to observe the area, chat within us, maybe stopping once in a while to enjoy some little expressive moment (I have something in mind…), or whatever would arise.

The first available day will be Sunday 14th.
If that day will work, we could gather in the morning, 10am – noon, or in the afternoon, 2.30pm – 4.30.

I would like to gather at Foxam Gardens (I love it!), but it’s only a suggestion.

What else…

Uh! Of course, I forgot to mention that yesterday I talked to Joanna (Whittington park community centre). She told me that in case we might decide to gather there for something indoor, they would try to offer a room also with a short notice.

So questions:

  • Sunday 14 sounds good?
  • 10pm or 2.30pm… or?
  • Foxam Gardens or any other place?

As usual, answer via private message or populate this post, with whatever comes to your mind.

Important reminder: ALL are welcome! The village is all, from minus 0 to +infinite years old, of any nature and taste.

First gathering done, it was a fantastic chaos! :D

Dear Villagers,

yesterday we have accomplished a great social milestone: we gathered with very little organisation, no need of any kind of leadership, and with the pure desire to be villagers. And it was beautifully chaotic! 😀

I personally enjoyed it very much, despite the fact that the location was not the best for chatting quietly, while taking care of toddlers. After 30 minutes the pub became a bit too noisy, and not safe enough to leave the toddlers wondering alone.

We were: 3 toddlers, 2 mothers, 1 father (me) and other 3 adults… a fantastic mess!

I personally had no expectations, and I liked it a lot! It actually met one sort of hidden expectation: it was relaxing and authentic.

One of the participants asked me to give a speech, that I prepared but not provided (I really couldn’t), but after the request I realised that there was no need: I loved the chaotic fluidity that rose by itself, and at the end I received some very passionate feedback about the pleasure of meeting new totally unknown people.

So, what’s next?
Just before we waived goodbye, Sabine told me that she is missing walks from her Germany.

In his “Thinking, Fast and Slow” the neuroscientist Daniel Kahneman talks (also) about the relationship between the walking speed and the pace of thinking, and since I read that book, I realised how lovely is to cogitate together at a slow speed, or even walk alone, in the evening, when I feel the need to reorganise my mind.

So, shall we gather for a walk?
It would be a fantastic way to connect with each other, and with our area! There is plenty of things to see.

Buildings and plants have a very intimate relationship: they are physically adherent, they share the same space, cohabit, share surfaces, temperature, roofs, water pipes, earth… have you even thought about it?

Let’s see if this new call will reach someone 🙂

I will soon publish a new post with a new village walk-gathering invitation.

3rd update for the next week (25/30 October) gathering

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen Villagers, it seems that we’re finally approaching the right time for the gathering.  The latest message that I received yesterday from the universe of Tufnell park talks about the need for an utopian self organised society… with a date and time!
Well, instead of “self organized” there was another word beginning with A, but I don’t want to alert too much the law enforcement.

Anyway, the magic date seems to be Friday 28th, 5pm.

Let’s keep this anyway open for anyone else who might join, also at a different time.

Big hug
